Today marked a beautiful beginning for the children of Azad Nagar as a new centre of Umeed—an initiative led by Prof B.A. Khan and Prof Razia Khan—was officially inaugurated. The event was held with grace and purpose, aiming to extend educational and emotional support to children living in the slums.
The inauguration was carried out by Prof Izhar Bilgrami, whose presence brought both encouragement and recognition to the efforts behind this noble cause. The function was attended by 33 children from nearby slum areas. Their smiles and curious eyes lit up the venue, adding to the spirit of the day.
The event was smoothly conducted by Secretary Ms Ayesha and Inspector Mr Asjad Sherwani, who ensured that everything moved forward with sincerity and care. From welcoming the guests to managing the schedule, their coordination kept the function both meaningful and organised.
After the formal ceremony, snacks and cold drinks were served to the children and attendees. These refreshments were generously provided on behalf of Prof Bilgrami, reflecting a gesture of kindness that matched the tone of the entire event.
The new Umeed centre is more than just a space—it is a promise. A promise of learning, dignity, and hope for children who need it the most. It stands as a testament to what can be achieved when educators, social leaders, and community members come together for a common cause.
